Par For the Course

We were delighted with the success of our spring play "Par for the Course". This was a play which we had been due to perform in march 2020 but was cancelled at the 11th hour when Covid struck.

Fortunately, all the cast was still available with the exception of Rachell Hope, who has moved to Houston, Texas. She was replaced by Lilli Wright a new and very welcome member of Dronfield Players.

Pies, Peas and Plays!

Back in November 2021, for two evenings only, we got back on stage for the first time since COVID for one-act entertaining. Our first ever bistro evening with a difference… 2 Sheffield theatre festival award winning plays, “The Blackbird’s Song” and “Song and Dance Man” both written by our own David Lumb. Our audiences enjoyed not only good pies but great entertainment, all washed down with their “bring your own” wine, beer and whatever tipple they fancied. Feedback from our audiences was brilliant, helping to bring confidence back for our supporters and cast.

Social Distanced 2021 Social Events

We enjoyed having face to face social events since the lifting of lockdown.

These have included; a picnic in the park, "Witches and Wizardry" (Clued-Up) mystery hunt in Sheffield, a treasure hunt in Bakewell, a bluebell walk, our annual summer BBQ and of course our infamous after show parties!!

We didn't let lockdown stop us from having a panto in January - "oh yes you did" oh no we didn't - Treasure Island happened on Zoom and it was great fun.  Thanks to all our members who put loads of effort into their costumes.

piece of cake anyone? (hic)

gin and tonic cake.jpg

On one of our regular Tuesday night Zooms we had our laptops in our kitchens and all set about the business of baking gin and tonic drizzle cakes.  We had loads of fun, however during the course of the evening it appeared that some members drank their ingredients!!

our lockdown christmas zoom party

Dronfield Players were pleased to welcome a new member to their ranks, when Professor Rich T. Biscuit made his first on stage appearance during the Christmas Party.  Using his own material, together with a few bad jokes borrowed from our esteemed front of house manager, the Professor kept us all entertained for far too long.  Rich has offered his services for set building, having heard that his ability to talk for hours about nothing will fit in well with the rest of the team.  Welcome Professor.

Also at the Christmas Party we were delighted to have a guest appearance by the one and only Rudolf Rednosikov and his BEAUTIFUL assistant.  His amazing ability to move household objects with only the power of his mind left all our members speechless – although that could have been because they were muted.

During the evening there were also appearances by musicians, poets, actors, dancing gringos and even Santa came to visit, making it a great party that will go down in Players history.
